A signing ceremony was held at Korean Esports Association’s (KeSPA) office in Sangam-dong to celebrate the three-year sponsorship deal between KeSPA and SK Telecom. The size of the deal was undisclosed. The deal makes SK Telecom the official sponsor of KeSPA, and will see the former train the Korean esports team for the Asian Games this coming September.
“Our esports team, who will be competing in the first official Asian Games’ category, will now be able to be on their best form thanks to SK Telecom’s sponsorship,” said Kim Young-man, President of KeSPA. “We ask for people to watch and support the new experiences that will be brought by the marriage of SK Telecom’s ICT technology and esports.”
Local esports competitions held by KeSPA will be streamed by SK Telecom including through its online streaming service Wavve. SK Telecom will use its latest visual technology in virtual reality and augmented reality to make the games more engaging for viewers, the company said.
