Last month, Waynesburg University completed construction on the school’s new state-of-the-art esports arena thanks to a $400,000 anonymous donation. The facility, which is located in Buhl Hall, is now completely functional and available to all students for the remainder of the spring semester.
This comes ahead of the launch of the university’s new esports program. This team is expected to begin participating in competitions this coming Fall.
“I am very excited to see the growth of esports at Waynesburg University,” said Adam Jack, the school’s Director of Athletics. “The generous Donor that provided us with this state-of-the-art gaming equipment and esports arena, as well as the vision of President Lee, Provost Baer, and all of the Senior Staff members, have created a platform for Waynesburg University to be the premier location for competitive esports in this region. The partnerships that we have already established have positioned us to take a lead role in the development of esports in Southwestern Pennsylvania.”
Waynesburg University is a Pennsylvania-based private institution that was established in 1849. As of the Fall 2020 semester, there were more than 1,200 undergraduate students enrolled at the school.
