Oral Roberts University Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony For Esports Arena

On April 6th, Oral Roberts University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s new esports venue dubbed the E-Rena. This facility aims to provide coaches and players with enhanced training methods, house competitions, and more.

“Video games have become much more than a hobby,” said ORU President William M. Wilson. “With the growth of esports, this is now a multi-billion-dollar industry, attracting millions of fans and viewers. At universities all over America, esports is becoming as competitive as football and basketball. We are thrilled to offer ORU students a world-class venue for this international sport.”

The 3,000-square-foot E-Rena is located on the south side of the school’s Hammill Center. It has been outfitted with eight gaming PCs, two interactive gaming stations, and 20 seats for spectators or other types of gamers.

Oral Roberts University is a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Christian institution. There were over 4,000 students enrolled in the school as of the Fall 2021 semester.
