Nintendo Unveils Super Smash Bros. Tournament For May

May has lots of exciting holidays: Cinco de Mayo, Star Wars Day, Mother’s Day, and May 10th is National Shrimp Day (apparently). Well, now we can add another big day to this month’s calendar after May 7th served as the start date for Nintendo’s Ultimate May Online Challenge.

This edition of the NintendoVS Challenge Cup Series will feature a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament held strictly online. The top eight finalists will all receive some cool and unique prizes. Nintendo promised to give away a winner’s trophy, a jacket, a Nintendo Switch carrying case, and a backpack along with 10,000 My Nintendo gold points as the grand prize.

Both top four and top eight finishing players will win the Nintendo Switch carrying case like the grand prize winner. Each position will also see lower sums of My Nintendo Gold points (7,500 points for a top four finish and 5,000 for the top eight).

Players who wish to participate will only be able to get in through the Ultimate Online modes and will not be asked for an entry fee. The tournament is only open to North American residents living in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
