A new esports tournament featuring an unreleased video game will be coming our way very soon! On the afternoon of May 18th, Evo sent out a tweet saying the organization would be teaming up with WB Games to host a 2v2 tournament at Evo 2022 for WB’s upcoming fighter game MultiVersus. This event, which has a $100,000 prize pool, will feature a payout for the top 32 qualifying teams.
Closed alpha testing for MultiVersus will run from May 19th to the 27th with registrations for the tournament opening three days later on May 30th. This means that interested participants can sign up to test the game out now and get in plenty of practice before the actual competition begins.
This announcement comes just three days after the first official cinematic trailer for the game was posted to YouTube by Warner Bros. Games. While this video didn’t give us any actual clips of gameplay, it did introduce us to some of the world-famous characters that will be playable in the game. This includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Tom and Jerry, Steven Universe, Jake the Dog and Finn the Human from Adventure Time, the Iron Giant, Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, Velma and Shaggy from Scooby Doo, and more.
If somehow, none of those characters appeal to you, then you’re in luck because more characters are expected to be revealed by WB at a later date. As we learn more about the roster and events surrounding this game, the hype around MultiVersus will only continue to grow.
