A new report is saying from data.ai and the International Data Corporation said that the mobile gaming market will exceed $130 billion this year. This report indicated that the entire global gaming market will be valued at $222 billion this year.
Mobile gaming will represent 61% of all the money in the global gaming market. The mobile gaming sector will be worth more than $136 billion this year, growing at a rate 1.7 times faster than the rest of the gaming industry.
The report explained that mobile gaming preferences are varied with eight different video game subgenres featured on the global list of the ten best-selling mobile games. In fact, Lexi Sydow, the head of market insights at data.ai said that “Mobile is democratizing the space and is now the primary driver of growth for digital games consumption.”
During the first quarter of 2022, consumers spent over $1.6 billion a week on video games offered on the Google Play and Apple App Stores. This represented a 30% increase from consumer levels before the COVID-19 Pandemic. The report also said that North America and Western Europe made up almost half of the global spending on mobile games.
