Tencent Holdings is bringing yet another data center to Japan, bringing the total to three for the country where its cloud gaming services are enjoying much demand and success. Tencent’s Japanese businesses have posted triple-digit annual growth, driven primarily by cloud services for the game, according to Senior Vice President, Poshu Yeung.
“We are considering a third site for a data center,” said Yeung. “We have the experience, so this won’t take much time.”
Tencent launched its first Japan-based studio in Tokyo in 2019, and added a second facility in 2021. Tencent currently operates 30 data centers outside China in 12 regions around the world.
