Microsoft will be launching its Xbox TV Application this month. This aims to give Samsung Smart TV and monitor owners the opportunity to play Microsoft video games without needing an Xbox. Through the Xbox TV app, customers will be able to access their Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions, providing them with over 100 games through Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs.
The Xbox TV app will be able to support several controllers, including Xbox peripherals, Sony accessories, and more. These controllers only need Bluetooth connections to be set up with the app. However, Microsoft doesn’t plan on improving the streaming resolution, so games will be limited to 1080p streaming at 60fps.
“We are bringing the Xbox App to Samsung Smart TVs first, and our intent is to explore other TV partnerships as part of this next evolution in our vision,” said Ashley McKissick, the corporate vice president of Xbox gaming experiences and platforms.
The Xbox TV App will be rolled out on Samsung devices in 27 countries starting on June 30th. To access the application, users just have to log onto their TVs with Microsoft accounts. At this time, it is not clear when this app will be made available on other TVs or other Samsung devices.
