Magic Gaming, the gaming arm of the Orlando Magic, and health insurance provider Florida Blue, are joining forces to create the Magic Gaming Esports Academy, a program which looks to build relationships with local schools, advocate for esports as a career, all while promoting health and wellness. Both organizations are teaming up with Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) to promote the academy and add to the districts existing esports program. The academy will be open to all high school and college students.
“Magic Gaming is thrilled to team up with our great partner, Florida Blue for this unique opportunity for local students,” said Gabriel Causse, Business Operations Manager of Magic Gaming. “Adding in OCPS creates the trifecta in what we can offer students interested in esports and educating them on the careers that exist in this realm. We look forward to building the program and gearing it towards the interests of the students involved.”
The program will see both organizations host monthly virtual seminars that will allow academy members to learn and interact with esports professionals while exploring all the career options in the industry.
Through the larger partnership with OCPS, the academy will offer local students training sessions as well as in-person visits to said schools.
