CD Projekt Stock Has Plummeted Since Botched Cyberpunk 2077 Release

A new report from Business Insider Poland revealed that CD Projekt’s value has tanked by over 75% since just before the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. The company which once boasted a market capitalization of $8.5 billion is now worth around $2.1 billion.

Essentially, the botched launch of Cyberpunk 2077 eliminated five years’ off the companies overall value. Despite selling nearly 14 million copies in 2020 alone, CD Projekt has been on damage control ever since, fixing problems with the game, and watching as the game’s poor reception led Sony to remove it from the PlayStation Store.

CD Projekt’s post-Cyberpunk plummet has left its market cap trending around a level equivalent to its value in 2017. Even worse, the company is no longer Poland’s most valuable gaming studio, an honor that now belongs to Techland.

Still, the company is doing its best to make things right, even talking about developing a new Witcher game. Perhaps a new Witcher title can get the once proud studio back on the right track.
