Pokemon Trading Card Game Partnering With McDonald’s For A Second Straight Year

Following the success of last year’s epic cross-over, Pokemon’s Trading Card Game (TCG) and McDonald’s will once again be collaborating on 15 cards which will be available at the fast food joint’s US locations from August 9th to September 26th. Every Happy Meal sold between those dates will contain a promo pack with four cards, a TCG coin, and a “Match Battle” spinner toy.

The coins and toys will feature one of the following Pokemon:

  • Pikachu
  • Growlithe
  • Smeargle
  • Victini
  • Rowlet
  • Gossifleur

Meanwhile, the 15 cards, printed on special confetti holofoil paper, will feature these Pokemon:

  • Ledyba
  • Rowlet
  • Gossifleur
  • Growlithe
  • Victini
  • Lapras
  • Pikachu
  • Chinchou
  • Flaaffy
  • Tynamo
  • Cutiefly
  • Bewear
  • Pangoro
  • Drampa
  • Smeargle

The hope this year is that the promotion won’t be as chaotic as last year’s, when scalpers rushed to McDonald’s to purchase as many Happy Meals as possible, packing their cars with food and raising the prices of the cards further. McDonald’s has taken precautions however, limiting each customer to a certain amount of Happy Meals per visit.

Note: cards will not be sold separately.
