It sounds like Avalanche Studios, the company behind the Just Cause franchise, was working on an Iron Man game for multiple years before the project was eventually canceled by Marvel and Disney. This comes just a few weeks after rumors began to swirl that EA was working on a new Iron Man title.
This information was first revealed by Avalanche co-founder Cristofer Sundberg. During an interview with MinnMax, he explained that the game “was in development for a couple of years” before eventually being canceled in 2012.
Sundberg said that it would have been an open-world game that gave players the ability to “take off and just fly anywhere.” Additionally, users could have punched enemies through walls thanks to Iron Man’s repulsor gloves.
Avalanche Studios is a video game development company that was founded in 2003. Besides creating the Just Cause series, the organization is also famous for launching Rage 2 and Rumble City.
