Based on a recent Twitch update that was noticed by industry insider Zach Bussey, it sounds like some changes are coming to Twitch. One of the biggest reforms will be the removal of host mode and other host mode features on October 3rd, 2022.
Host mode, which was first introduced in 2014, allowed streamers to provide audiences with another stream to view after they went online. While this mode was active, the streaming host would still appear online, but their channel would basically feature another content creator holding a completely separate chat.
On a user’s Stream Manager quick action page, the “Host Channel” action will be removed. Additionally, the “Autohost” option will be replaced by a “Suggested Channels” setting.
“Since its launch, we’ve learned that streamers often want to share their viewers with other streamers to help them grow and have introduced features to help you do that,” Twitch wrote in a statement.
