Sky Mavis Unveils Esports Grant Worth Over $2M

Technology company Sky Mavis recently announced it had created a $2.4 million esports grant for its hit game Axie Infinity. This money will be paid out to various Axie-based tournaments and invitationals. Axie‘s many in-game currency, AXS coins, will be the main form of money used at these events.

Sky Mavis has already outlined the types of competitions that will be eligible to receive grant money. Major tournaments must have a prize pool between $200,001 and $1,000,000. The prize pool for minor tournaments must be in the range of $1,000 to $9,999.

Method MetaGuild has been pegged as the first grant recipient. This will provide Method metaGuild with $160,000 to spend on LAN and online competition prizes.

In a statement, Sky Mavis claimed that this is the third grant program the company has launched. Moreover, Axie Infinity already supports over 94 tournaments worldwide.
