Appe Inc. recently announced it would be raising the prices of App Store apps in multiple countries around the globe starting on October 5th. This reportedly includes numerous countries around the world.
Apple said that this pricing change will affect all tiers of the App Stores’ pricing chart. The following areas will be affected by this policy update: Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, Vietnam, and all territories that use the euro. The United Kingdom will not be impacted by these changes.
“Your proceeds will be adjusted accordingly and will be calculated based on the tax-exclusive price,” Apple said in this policy update. “Exhibit B of the Paid Applications Agreement will be updated to indicate that Apple collects and remits applicable taxes in Vietnam. Once these changes go into effect, the Pricing and Availability section of My Apps will be updated. You can change the price of your apps and in-app purchases (including auto-renewable subscriptions) at any time in App Store Connect. If you offer subscriptions, you can choose to preserve prices for existing subscribers.”
These pricing changes will be minor but noticeable. Items that previously cost €0.99 will see their prices increased to €1.19. Meanwhile, apps that used to be €9.99 will cost €11.99 starting on October 5th.
It’s not all bad news though. App Store developers that offer subscriptions will be allowed to preserve prices that have already been implemented for existing users.
