Days after GTA VI was leaked, the London City Police announced they had arrested a 17-year-old person from Oxfordshire, England on September 22nd. At this time, the authorities haven’t confirmed the reason for the arrest. However, it is being reported that the teenager was allegedly taken into custody for their involvement in the Uber hack as well as the GTA VI leaks. The suspect remains in City Police custody.
Based on a report from The Desk and Matthew Keys, the arrest of the suspect came as part of an investigation being conducted by the FBI and the UK’s Cyber Crime Unit. An anonymous source that spoke with The Desk said the teenager is reportedly being held on numerous charges including conspiracy to attack at least two different computer systems.
This teenage hacker is reportedly connected to Laspus$. This is a group of hackers that is allegedly involved with attacks on other high-profile technology companies including Microsoft, Cisco, Samsung, NVIDIA, and more.
For those of you that may not have heard, a recent leak of Grand Theft Auto VI saw 90 video files showcasing the game’s early development footage. Following the cyber-attack, Rockstar Games confirmed that somebody had illegally gained access to these files and shared them online.
