After dominating the world of TV, Ted Lasso is now looking to become the face of video games. This comes after EA and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that Lasso and the fictional team he coaches, AFC Richmond, would be introduced to EA Sports’ FIFA 23.
Thanks to this collaboration, fans will be able to take control of Lasso and AFC Richmond in several game modes including Career Mode, Kickoff, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons. Additionally, several other forms of AFC Richmond content (kits, managers items, etc.) will be available for players to unlock through FIFA Ultimate Team.
“I am truly fortunate and deeply grateful, to have had many special moments in my career thus far, and I consider this experience among the best of them,” said Jason Sudeikis, the actor that plays Ted Lasso. “As long-time fans of EA SPORTS FIFA, having Ted Lasso and the whole AFC Richmond squad incorporated into the newest version of the game is truly a dream come true for myself and the rest of the fellas. Our cast and crew work tremendously hard on this show, and we are flattered that it resonates with so many folks. We look forward to our fans having the opportunity to play with, play as, and even play against their favorite AFC Richmond characters.”
All Ted Lasso content in FIFA 23 will be available to unlock by completing in-game objectives. This means that anybody that owns a copy of FIFA 23 will be able to access these items.
