A new game in The Sims series is coming. On October 18th, video game developer Maxis gave us a very early look at Project Rene, the codename for the game that will eventually be The Sims 5.
Project Rene will reportedly be the next mainline Sims game. Moreover, it will allow for solo and collaborative play as well as cross-platform integration.
Project Rene was previewed during a Behind The Sims Summit that was hosted by Maxis. During this presentation, Lyndsey Pearson, the vice president of franchise creative for The Sims, shared plans for the upcoming title.
While this is obviously very exciting news, Pearson did explain that the game is very early on in its development cycle. As a result, we can expect Maxis to share updates on Project Rene over the “next few years.”
In the meantime, Maxis will continue providing support for The Sims 4. This comes after the game went free-to-play on the same day that Project Rene was announced.
