On October 7th, Atari announced it had agreed to a ten-year licensing extension with Chris Sawyer for the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. This new agreement will see Atari develop new titles while it expands its physical and digital distribution channels.
This new deal will also see Atari help Rollercoaster Tycoon “explore brand and merchandising collaborations.” Understandably, the end goal of this new agreement is “to bring the franchise to new heights.”
Rollercoaster Tycoon is a simulation video game series that allows players to build amusement parks and rides. The first game in the series was launched for PCs by Chris Sawyer in 1999. Since then, 17 other games have been released in the franchise.
