One of the world’s most famous browser-based gaming websites has officially closed its doors. On October 25th, Miniclip.com announced in a post on Facebook that it would be officially shutting down operations.
“Miniclip has not gone anywhere, and in fact, we are bigger and better – 7 billion downloads and counting,” the announcement reads. “After an incredible 21 years of Miniclip.com, we felt it was time to sunset the majority of games on our beloved platform, earlier this year, and concentrate our focus on where our players are – 75 million of you play our games each day on mobile.”
Despite this announcement, it doesn’t appear that Miniclip will actually be shutting down its website entirely. In fact, there will still be two games available to play on the site: Agar.io and 8 Ball Pool. However, beyond that, “the site will now be primarily devoted to providing you with more information about your favorite game company.”
Miniclip was home to some of the most enjoyable games of the early and mid-2000s. This included Club Penguin, Zombotron, Stickman, and many more titles. Unfortunately, these games are officially no longer accessible online via Miniclip.com.
