ForeVR recently announced that it had secured an additional $10 million thanks to a Series A round of funding. This round was led by Lobby Capital with other investments coming from organizations like Bessemer Venture Partners and Galaxy Interactive, among others.
ForeVR was founded with the goal of becoming the Wii Sports of the virtual reality gaming sector. As of this writing, the company offers several casual gaming experiences including bowling, darts, and cornhole. In all likelihood, this money will go towards helping the company expand its operations and create new games.
“At Zynga, we proved that 2D social games like Words with Friends and Farmville had the power to build massive audiences by bringing people together in play. Marrying what we learned at Zynga with the visual richness of VR will allow us to take social gaming to the next level,” said Marcus Segal, the co-founder of ForeVR Games, in a press release. “Our new funding validates our work thus far and our vision for creating a new ‘Wii Sports of VR’ that brings everyone of ages together in hyper-realistic, immersive worlds.”
ForeVR Games is a Los Angeles, California-based company that was founded in July 2020. Since then, the organization has raised over $18.5 million in funding.
