Esports Entertainment Group Inc. recently announced that Grant Johnson had left the company on December 3rd. This means he will no longer serve as EEG’s CEO or Chairman.
On December 7th, EEG’s Board of Directors announced that it had identified “several candidates” to be the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. Additionally, Esports Entertainment Group expects to name an interim CEO in the coming days. In the meantime, Jan Jones Blackhurst has been named the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors
“Grant recognized the value of esports and online gambling and founded EEG on that basis. On behalf of the Board, we wish him well,” said Ms. Jones Blackhurst. “The company is looking forward to bringing in new leadership to work with Board to realize the full potential of our acquired esports businesses.”
Grant Johnson was originally named the CEO of EEG back in May 2014. Over the last eight years, he helped EEG emerge as one of the world’s most recognizable sports betting organizations, even assisting in the launch of the company’s IPO.
