On Wednesday, GameAbove announced it was making a $150,000 donation to this year’s Gamers for Giving fundraiser. This contribution matches the donation GameAbove made to the charity last year. To date, GameAbove has committed more than $20 million toward numerous organizations supporting Eastern Michigan University as well as the surrounding community.
Gamers for Giving is a weekend-long competitive gaming tournament and stream-a-thon that helps raise money in support of Gamers Outreach programs. This year, the organization was able to raise over $966,000 for kids in hospitals.
Khalid Walton is an advisory board member for GameAbove. He said it is important to support the community. “GameAbove members clearly see the positive results of the work and give-back spirit by Gamers Outreach and Zach,” said Walton. “We are very committed to supporting EMU alumni who go the extra mile with charitable endeavors and who have organizations, ideas, and programs doing good in the community, particularly with assisting today’s youth. Zach is a product of this EMU spirit.”
