Germany Sees Record Growth In Esports And Gaming

According to a recent article by Esports Bets, the German gaming market grew by 32% in 2020. Revenue, online services, in-game purchases, and other industries related to the gaming sector all had a very successful year despite the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The German gaming and esports market generated €8.5 billion ($10.03 billion) in 2020 alone. €5.2 billion came from software sales, subscriptions, and microtransactions. The other €3.2 billion came from hardware sales.

The in-game purchase section of the market grew by 44% in Germany while online services grew by 50%. As part of the growth, other industries flourished like the gaming accessories market and the esports betting market.

Germany Trade And Invest (GTAI) reports that there are 34 million active gamers in the country. With a population of almost 84 million people, gamers make up 40.5% of Germany.
