On June 4th, Facebook announced it had acquired Unit 2 Games, the organization behind the free-to-play game creation/sharing tool Crayta. Facebook said this addition will help expand the company’s categories of gaming content creators.
“We can now make content creation easier than ever by bringing our team together with Unit 2 Games’ team and technology,” said vice president of Facebook Gaming Vivek Sharma. “In the future, people on Facebook will create experiences in a matter of minutes without the need to code, while more advanced creators can make content limited only by their imagination.”
Unit 2 Games is an independent gaming studio based in the United Kingdom. The 40-person company was originally founded in 2017.
The Profit‘s Take:
I keep saying that infrastructure, tools, and technologies are one of the best places to be playing in gaming right now. Expect to see many more of these less “glamorous” announcements over the next few years.
