Niantic Developing “Pokemon Go” Style Transformers Game

On June 14th, Niantic, the company behind Pokemon Go, recently unveiled plans to launch a Transformers video game. Transformers: Heavy Metal is expected to be released later this year.

Transformers: Heavy Metal will be similar to Pokemon Go. The title will be an augmented reality, location-based game.

“In Transformers: Heavy Metal, players will join the Guardian Network, a group of humans who have banded together with the Autobots in a war against the Decepticons,” it says on the Niantic website. “As a Guardian, players will uncover hidden regions across Earth to find resources and battle Decepticons in turn-based battles, either solo or with friends.”

Niantic partnered with the studio Very Very Spaceship to help lead the project’s development. A soft launch for the game is expected to be coming to several countries around the world “soon”.
