Anheuser-Busch InBev Partners With OpTic Gaming

Belgian beverage company Anheuser-Busch InBev recently announced it has partnered with OpTic Gaming to launch a UK-based esports viewing platform called TheCooldown.gg. This platform allows individuals to find watch parties for esports events at local eateries while also helping users interested in setting up their own viewing parties.

The organizations will be holding a $14K cash giveaway to celebrate the platform’s launch. Other prizes that will also be given away during this event include customized PS5 consoles, gaming chairs, and video game vouchers.

“We feel that Cooldown bridges the gap between the ever-important millennial and Gen Z generations and our bar partners. Esports is booming and thanks to its wide range of games and competitions provides plenty of opportunities to engage customers,” said Hector Rodriguez, the CEO of OpTic Gaming. “Considering the world is unlocking again, it was the right time to launch Cooldown and give gamers, esports fans, and bar owners a new lease on life and another reason to go out and enjoy a good match of esports with their friends.”

One of the website’s first events is scheduled to take place later this month. TheCooldown.gg Networking Day will be held on June 28th.

The Profit‘s Take:

OpTic Gaming is firmly in the category of “distracted” esports teams. This is a clever marketing activation for Anheuser-Busch and generates some revenue for OpTic, but I would be surprised if either party remains committed to this project long term.
