Ubisoft Prepares For Release Of “XDefiant”, Announces Shut Down Of “Tom Clancy’s Marvel’s Avengers”

Ubisoft recently announced the company’s new game, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant, is going to be completely free-to-play. However, the game will only be available for download through the Ubisoft Connect app.

“As of now, the game will be on Ubisoft Connect once it’s fully out,” a Ubisoft representative told PC Gamer. “There are discussions on other stores having the game post-launch, but nothing has been determined as of yet.”

Shortly after that, Ubisoft revealed it was shutting down Tom Clancy’s Marvel’s Avengers. The company released an announcement on the shutdown through the Elite Squad website.

“It is with a great deal of sadness that we are announcing we will no longer be releasing new content for Elite Squad,” the game’s development team wrote. “Today’s update will be our last, and on October 4th, 2021 we will shut the servers down. This was not an easy decision, but after exploring multiple options with our teams, we came to the conclusion that it was no longer sustainable.”
