Epic Games recently announced the company is launching voice chat and anti-cheating services for game developers. These offers come as part of the studio’s Epic Online Services suite, which is available to use on almost any gaming device.
The new voice chat service can be used for cross-platform play. When using the voice chat, data is relayed through Epic’s “backend servers”, meaning technology handles all the scaling and service quality features.
Epic will also be releasing its anti-cheating service: Easy Anti-Cheat. The program had previously been available through third-party developers but is now free as part of Epic’s online services.
Just two days after this announcement was made, Epic Games filed a rezoning request in the Town of Cary in North Carolina. Epic reportedly wants to redo the Cary Towne Center Mall and build a hotel as well as a high-rise building.
The project has been described as a mixed-use development. However, it is being reported that this new development will serve as an office for Epic Games’ corporate headquarters.
Epic Games acquired the property for $95 million back in December of 2020. The organization said it plans on creating a new corporate campus by 2024.
