Wartburg College Joins National Esports Collegiate Conference

Josh Fischer, the head coach of the Wartburg College esports team, recently announced that the Knights will become a member of the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC). The inaugural season of the Wartburg Knights’ esports team will be this coming fall.

Wartburg has been actively making an effort to establish a gaming presence on its campus. Back in September of 2021, launched its competitive esports team. After that, the school hired Fischer as its first esports coach in December.

“I am excited to have Wartburg become a member of the NECC,” said Fischer. “They (The NECC) do a great job at providing organized competitive play they really have the players’ best interests in mind. This is a great first step for us as we look to start competitions in the fall.”

Wartburg College is a private Lutheran liberal arts college that was founded in 1852. The school is located in Waverly, Iowa.
