Community Gaming Closes $16M Series A Funding Round

Community Gaming recently closed a $16 million Series A funding round that was led by SoftBank Group’s SB Opportunity Fund. This money will be used to help the company expand operations into Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Softbank launched the $5 billion SB Opportunity Fund in 2019. Other participants in the funding round included Animoca Brands, Binance Labs, BITKRAFT Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners, CoinFund, and more.

“North America will still be our biggest market,” Chris Gonsalves, the CEO of Community Gaming, told CoinDesk. “But we’re seeing the most organic growth in Latin America.”

Community Gaming is a New York City-based gaming platform that allows people to create their own tournaments. The company was founded in 2019 and reportedly reached over 100,000 unique registered users earlier this year. Their mission “is to be the global web3 earnings platform, working synergistically with game developers and guilds to provide millions of players ways to earn supplemental income.”
