Boost Mobile Will Let Customers Pay Bills By Gaming And Watching Ads

Boost Mobile has introduced a new way for customers to reduce their phone bills. Now, Boost Mobile users will be able to pay parts of their phone bills by playing blockchain games and watching advertisements.

The company recently introduced “blockchain-backed” Boostcoins to its customer base. These Boostcoins can be used by customers to pay off their phone bills. To get these coins, users will have to download the new BoostOne app and then interact with games, ads, and Boost Mobile’s partners through the application.

“This represents an exciting new business model and a stepping stone into the future for wireless consumers,” said Stephen Stokols, the CEO of Boost Mobile, in the press release. “Most telcos rely on subscription models, but it’s time to move beyond the old ways and to embrace proven digital models popular in other industries.”

Although this is a huge advancement in the gaming industry, Boost Mobile customers will have to taper their excitement. One Boostcoin is only expected to be worth one cent.

At this time, the limitations of Boostcoins are unclear. However, Boost Mobile has said it plans on letting users eventually share Boostcoins with each other in the future. The company also wants to introduce new redemption models that could eventually let holders buy a free cell phone if they have enough Boostcoins.

The Profit‘s Take:

So, it’s play-to-earn… kind of. This is a good product-market fit. Boost Mobile is a discount carrier with users that usually are trying to save money. I like this a lot for them and their user base.
