Big changes are coming to Fall Guys. It was recently announced that Fall Guys will be fully free to play when the game comes out on Xboxes, Nintendo Switches, PlayStation 5s, and the Epic Games Store on June 21st.
Players that already own Fall Guys on Steam or the PS4 will be given a Legacy Pack edition of the game that includes unique cosmetics and the game’s first paid-for battle pass, which will be known as Season Pass. Unfortunately, this means that the game will no longer be available to new players on Steam or PS4s after this switch is made. Moreover, game developer Mediatonic is basically resetting the Fall Guys season after this change is made.
The 21st will mark the beginning of Season One of Fall Guys, which has been duly named “Free For All” because the game will likely include cross-play and cross-progression between platforms. At least, that’s what IGN’s Ryan Dinsdale is saying. This means that all Fall Guys players will be able to compete with one another, regardless of the console they’re using.
We also have to mention that Mediatonic is introducing a new type of in-game currency called Show Bucks which can be used to purchase season passes. At this time, we don’t yet know the pricing of Show Bucks or how the game’s current currency, Kudos, will be used moving forward.
