Inside Qatar’s Metaverse FIFA Tournament

Qatar has been pegged to host the Middle East’s first-ever metaverse FIFA tournament. The event will see fans across the globe competing for the EA Sports FIFA 22 Champions Cup and the $25,000 grand prize. Additionally, second place will take home $15,000, while third and fourth place will each receive $5,000 for their efforts.

The competition will take place at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall in Doha, and will feature 16 players, with 12 of those being the top FIFA players, with the last four players coming from the MENA region, who made the online qualifiers.

How does the metaverse come into play you ask? The concept revolves around the opportunity for viewers to connect and the players throughout the tournament. Additionally, Ooredoo Nation, the tournament organizers, will offer viewers free NFTs, redeemable for merchandise, as well as the chance to meet players and influencers.

Fans who want to watch the tournament can do so from the competition’s official website, or on YouTube.
