On June 30th, ResearchAndMarkets.com added its “China Mobile Games 2022” report to its offering. This report showed that the massive Chinese mobile gaming market made up almost 33% of the entire global mobile gaming industry.
In 2021, China’s domestic mobile and PC gaming market topped out at $45.49 billion in revenue, a 5.5% year-over-year increase from 2020. Moreover, the market will be worth approximately $55.23 billion by 2026, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4% during this forecast period.
China also appears to have plenty of metaverse fans. The report showed that over 16,000 metaverse-related trademarks have been filed in the country.
“China is worth 1/3 of the world’s mobile games market – and rising, and deserves the attention of games companies worldwide,” the report says. “Although the regulations can be challenging, if a company is dedicated to developing a hit game that fits the rules and cultural gaming preferences, there is a strong chance that the effort will pay off in China.”
A lot of the mobile gaming sector’s growth will come from the rise in the country’s total number of gamers. In fact, China will see the total number of gamers in the country increase to 730 million people by 2026.
