Dr Disrespect is once again feeling… well, disrespected, this time by YouTube. On August 13th, the doc sent out a tweet going after the company’s streaming platform.
In the social media post from his personal account, Guy Beahm was surprisingly forced to break character in order to explain his recent claim that the organization has not done anything to support his page’s growth despite its recent success.
“It’s amazing to think the platform Doc streams on doesn’t support him one bit,” Beahm wrote. “No follow, zero communication, absolutely no love. The impact we’ve had on YouTube streaming growth is insane. We’ve been taken advantage of… Jesus YouTube, show some respect.”
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise when we tell you this is not the first time the Doc has gone after YouTube. In May, Dr Disrespect unfollowed YouTube on social media after stating the platform shows a “lack of support” for its streamers.
Regardless of his criticisms, it seems unlikely that the Doc will be leaving YouTube anytime soon. After all, he was permanently banned from streaming on Twitch in June 2020, a decision that eventually caused Beahm to take his talents to YouTube.
The Profit‘s Take:
I suspect his deal is worse than that of other recently signed streamers. He signed a contract after getting banned from Twitch and before YouTube started giving out big money to content creators. Now that he has seen people come to YouTube and receive big paychecks, maybe he feels cheated? Unfortunately, he doesn’t have any other alternatives. He doesn’t have a strong hand here. His only outlet is complaining publicly, which feels kind of weak. Regardless, this is another example of how badly YouTube continues to be managed. Nobody that has joined YouTube Gaming is happy. They continue to have problems and complain publicly. The Doc is stuck, and he probably feels that way too. At least he did it as Guy Beahm because Dr Disrespect can’t come off that way.
