The British children’s station CBBC is introducing a new kind of esports show with an interesting twist. Game on Grandparents is a new reality show that sees kids act as coaches teaching their grandparents to play and succeed in video game tournaments.
Throughout the series, we see 18 teams face off for the title of Game on Grandparents Champion. Some of the titles featured on the show include hit games like Minecraft, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, and more.
There will also be plenty of celebrities involved in the series including Ali-A, Yammy, Sanna, Jelly, Blackpanthaa, Adam Savage, Vikkstar, and Ruby Rube. Plus, Top Gear Gaming Show’s Julia Hardy will be the host with Miles Ross joining the broadcast with commentary.
“It’s been such a pleasure to see all of our families spend time together and learn from each other, all whilst creating a memory that they’ll never forget,” hardy said. “I mean who would forget playing on an esports stage in front of a live studio audience just like the pros?”
The first episode of the show premiered on CBBC and BBC iPlayer on August 15th. All episodes are available to watch on the BBC iPlayer.
