On September 13th, Generation Esports announced it would be launching a new sim-racing competition called Speedway. This tournament will be made up of three series for high schoolers, college students, and members of the armed forces.
Speedway drivers will be hand-picked for competitions after they apply through various kickoff campaigns. Only 50 people will be selected to participate in the competition. each selected individual will receive exclusive merchandise as well as other types of sim-racing accessories.
“iRacing’s world-class simulation brings a whole new opportunity to the scholastic and military esports communities,” said Jon Bukosky, Chief Commercial Officer at Generation Esports. “We wanted to celebrate this by creating something that is unique, bold, and innovative. That is what Speedway is and we’re excited to share this with each community. “
Chosen drivers will compete in a four-week-long regular season where participants will race in heats to qualify for the main event race being held each Sunday. It all leads up to the final race on November 5th, when a champion will be crowned in all three series.
