After announcing plans to shut down Stadia this past September, Google has begun issuing service refunds to customers. In a statement released on November 9th, the company said it will process refunds for games, add-on content, and subscriptions purchased through the Stadia Store. At this time, Google has asked consumers to be patient and refrain from reaching out to customer support services.
“Starting November 9, 2022, Stadia will attempt to automatically process refunds for all purchases of games, add-on content, and subscriptions fees other than Stadia Pro made through the Stadia Store,” the announcement reads. “We ask for your patience as we work through each transaction and ask that you refrain from contacting Customer Support as they will not be able to expedite your refund during this time. We still expect the majority of refunds to be processed by January 18th, 2023.”
Refunds will be issued via the original form of payment used for the service. However, if that isn’t possible, Google will email customers via their Google accounts to set up alternate refunding methods.
Back in September, Google announced it would be shutting down its cloud video game service. Google Stadia will go offline on January 18th, 2023.
