According to data provided by Sports Interactive Games, the Apple Arcade is the most popular video game subscription service available today by a wide margin. In fact, SIG‘s Miles Jacobson said that the Apple Arcade could have over 100 million subscribers.
“I’m told nine-figure subscribers, I have no idea if those numbers are right or not,” Jacobson told iMore.
If these figures are accurate, then the Apple Arcade is easily the most used subscription service in the world, with more than twice as many users as PlayStation Plus. This data also shows that the Apple Arcade has three times as many users as Nintendo Switch Online and almost four times as many subscribers as Xbox Game Pass.
Phil Spencer recognizes Apple’s achievements and clearly believes that mobile gaming could be key to Microsoft’s success. During a recent episode of the Decoder podcast, Spencer said that” the smallest screen that we play on is actually the biggest screen when you think about the installed base in phone.” He also explained that the business will become “untenable” if it is unable to gain relevancy as a brand in the mobile gaming space.

We always think of Xbox Game Pass as the most popular subscription service for video games. Yet, Nintendo, Sony, and Apple all have more subscribers for their services. Apple Arcade is bundled with Apple One, which probably boosts those numbers significantly. There are over a billion iPhones out there in the wild today. In that context, 100 million subscribers for the Apple Arcade doesn’t seem all that crazy.
