Dubai To Launch Gaming Hub

Dubai recently announced it would be launching a gaming hub as the industry is set to surpass $5 billion in revenue by 2025. DMCC, the flagship free zone in Dubai, launched the DMCC Gaming Centre during the recently held Dubai Esports Festival as a way to support the global and regional video game sectors.

The DMCC Gaming Centre aims to provide “unparalleled access” to a vibrant community of gamers, unlocking the potential for new activations and collaborations. The center will give members access to larger regional and global gaming communities through regular events and esports tournaments. The center’s esports ecosystem will be supported by YaLLa Esports while AstroLabs will provide market entrance programs.

It makes sense that Dubai would want to open a hub for gaming in the Middle East. After all, gaming generates revenues of $1.8 billion in the MENA (Middle East-North Africa) region.

“Gaming is one of the fastest growing industries in the world, with nearly 3.2 billion people playing and spending a combined total of $196.8 billion in 2022. The size and growth of the industry today is staggering compared to when video games first appeared in the 1970s,” said Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the Chief Executive Officer of the DMCC. “These passionate communities are constantly looking for greater immersion and storytelling in their chosen form of entertainment. As our roster of gaming companies expands rapidly and as we see more of our DMCC Crypto Centre members enter the blockchain gaming space, there is no better time to formalize our efforts by opening the DMCC Gaming Centre. Through this facility, we will solidify Dubai’s position as a global hub for all forms of gaming and esports.”
